Today, we joined our friend M and her family as we celebrated her daughter H's life. It was a moving service. I didn't know H, but I knew M. This is the second tragedy for M. H was a young woman plucked from us too soon.
H was a good student, a great teacher. Her colleagues and her students came to the service and they sang. I saw tears in her students' eyes.
Everyone there at Mt Albert Baptist Church, had a heavy heart. I introduced myself to M's son O and daughter in law C. I told them I empathized with them. Today they buried a sister, 18 months ago, they buried a daughter.
Today, I heard from the Bishop of Christchurch who talked about the earthquakes of Christchurch and Japan. He said, earthquakes are not acts of God. The beauty of this world is acts of God.
This post is for your M & B. Sorry you have to join me and O & C in the bereaved parents club.

As a teenager, Helen told her friends she wanted "Release Me" by Pearl Jam played at her funeral. This was her exit Music.
Father...ooh...oh...oh...
I see the world, feel the chill
Which way to go, windowsill
I see the world's on a rocking horse of time
I see the birds in the rain
Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh...
Oh, dear dad, can you see me now
I am myself, like you somehow
I'll ride the wave where it takes me
I'll hold the pain...Release me...
Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh...
Oh, dear dad, can you see me now
I am myself, like you somehow
I'll wait up in the dark for you to speak to me
I'll open up...Release me...
Release me (3x)
Ohh...ohh...ohh...ohh...
